No longer me

No Longer Me is a Collaboration between the photographer Rafal Nowicki and the interdisciplinary artist Laura Méndez, everything started from the need of both to explore out of their comfort zone  and the idea of highlighting the importance of mental health. Through the lens of photography and storytelling, they delve into the struggles of  an individual navigating the gap between how she is  perceived by others and her authentic self, one that is lost, left behind, fighting with her dark sight and hopelessness.

The collaboration took shape into a photography exhibition that is going to be open to the public on Saturday 21st of September, the exhibition shows the bright and dark side of the character, two different scenarios that as far as they can be perceived are also as close as someone's inner battles and struggles. 

The exhibition is starting with a live performance, during 15 minutes the audience is invited to -her- (the main character) room and in between movement, sound and emotions the character shares her story that it is not just hers but also the story of more people dealing with anxiety and depression in silence. 

Laura Méndez 

Laura Méndez is an interdisciplinary artist from Colombia,her career started in the theater as an actress going through the audiovisual industry and connecting with the universe of writing, directing and performing stories.She also explores also the possibilities of telling stories from body expression through pole dance and physical theater, and from textile art, especially embroidery and crochet.

Rafal Nowicki

Rafał Nowicki is a cinema lover, music enthusiast and a photographer from Poland who has been living in Tilburg since 2017.

He embarked on his photography journey during the Black Lives Matter demonstration in 2020, and has since gradually expanded his portfolio, finding his own style and personal expression. Currently he studies photography at Fotografika, an online school in Poland, aiming to expand his knowledge and vision of photography. 

In his photographs he is focusing on capturing human interactions and emotions, as well as details and simple forms.
